Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur both descend from a single undivided 'Lanao' province, split by Republic Act No. 2228 in 1959 — Lanao del Norte took the northern municipalities while Lanao del Sur, now part of BARMM, took the south. A frequent point of confusion: Iligan City sits geographically inside the province and was even its first capital from 1959 to 1977, but it has been an independently governed Highly Urbanized City since 1983, and the provincial seat moved to Tubod in 1977.
Key industries: Agriculture (rice, corn, coconut), Fishing (Illana, Panguil, and Iligan Bays), Hydropower (Agus III and IV)
The province is often associated with the Agus River hydroelectric complex, but most of that complex's largest plants — including Agus V, VI, and VII at Maria Cristina Falls — actually sit within Iligan City's separate jurisdiction; only Agus III (in pre-construction, targeting 2029) and the operating Agus IV plant are within the province itself. Land-use planning here runs entirely through its 22 municipalities — Lanao del Norte has no component cities.

A 22-municipality province with no cities of its own, sharing its name and a major hydropower complex with a separately-governed city next door, and currently mid-reformulation on its own development plan, is exactly the kind of coordination-heavy setup a live cross-LGU dashboard is built to simplify.
With roughly 60% of Lanao del Norte's municipalities holding an approved CLUP and the rest updating theirs, the PPDO has a real coordination job ahead. A Nova Gov pilot brings that rollout into one view across all 22 municipalities.
